Wigwam

Historic authentic Arizona charm defines The Wigwam. Built over 90 years ago, the resort is built on 440 of acres, providing guests with a peaceful, quiet, and truly perfect southwest desert experience. A perfect summer escape is exactly what my family needed for our staycation.

We visited the Wigwam and we had the best time. We started our vacation by attending the Character Breakfast at Red’s Bar and Grill. Charlie was so excited to  meet Aladdin and Jasmine, and he was even more impressed they knew his name! Jasmine made him a balloon dog, who he named Rajah. Aladdin offered Charlie face painting but Charlie sadly declined. After meeting the characters we were able to enjoy a Saturday morning brunch at Red’s Bar and Grill. My personal favorite? The Biscuits and Gravy with a side of Bloody Mary. Because it was necessary.

After having breakfast, we found ourselves happy to be lost walking around the huge resort. In the very middle was the Tower pool alongside the Tower Bar and Grill. We quickly put on our swimsuits and spent the remainder of our staycation in the pool, staying cool from the Arizona 100 degree weather. The pool has a waterpark with two slides, poolside service, lounge chairs, and umbrellas. (and bathrooms right next to the pool so you don’t have to run around looking for them while your soaking wet!)

Saturday night we found ourselves sitting on the comfiest lounge chairs on the grass by Wigwam Bar listening to live music. It was a perfect sunset, the weather had cooled off, and the ambiance was amazing.

Our favorite food items at the Wigwam:

Wigwam Bar (breakfast): The Puzzle bread (It reminds me of my grandmothers monkey bread but its topped with even more caramel, bananas, and pecans. Its amazing)

Tower Pool Bar and Grill: The Kids Quesadilla (it’s a secret item and not on the menu but it is by far the best quesadilla Ive ever had. I ordered it three times while I was there. My favorite thing about it?  It’s made with gouda cheese and it comes with a side of sour cream and salsa).

Red’s Bar and Grill: The Red Wings (the hot sauce is made in house and is the perfect blend of spice, sweet and almost has a garlic spice)

Best drinks at the Wigwam:

Red’s Bar and Grill: The Bloody Mary

Tower Pool Bar and Grill: Wigwam Signature Margarita

Best Employees:

Red’s Bar and Grill employee, Anthony. He was so nice, accommodating and friendly. He also made Charlie feel super special during the Character Breakfast. Thank you Anthony!

Red’s Bar and Grill employee, Sam. He provided the best service to us for dinner one night. He made excellent recommendations on what to order and knew the menu like the back of his hand. Thank you Sam!

Tower Bar and Grill server, Aimee. She was so sweet, always asking if we needed anything additional and even going out of her way to help us move chairs and an umbrella. Thank you Aimee!

Overall, we had the most relaxing, enjoyable staycation at the Wigwam. I would recommend visiting the Wigwam over and over again. It’s perfect. Thank you so much for having us!

One of a Kind with Nena & Co

Everyone has seen “the mom bag.” The hideous, filthy, cheerios stuck to the bottom, dried milk on the straps, if you touch it you’ll wake up with a cold the next day, MOM BAG. Yuck. I promised myself I would never carry around one of “those germ infested things.”

And that’s when I found Nena & Co.

Nena & Co has beautiful, high quality, purposeful bags and I had to have one. I loved the One of a Kind collection because I will be honest, I hate showing up places and seeing people with the same exact thing as me. For instance my Apple Phone, can’t people just buy the Samsung Galaxy? Kidding!! But really, I like to have unique things. So I went with Nena & Co One of a Kind convertible bag. The bag is curated from vintage fabrics woven from memory by a Guatemalan artisan up to 10 years ago. Each pattern on the bag is distinctive to the reign when the artisan lives. As if it doesn’t get any cooler than this? Nena & Co then adds hand cut leather to the bags to make them durable, sturdy, and mom approved.

Every Halloween I have made Charlie a “Boo Basket”. Similarly themed to an Easter Basket, but Halloween themed. This year for Halloween, we decided to spread some love to some foster children. We carried on our Boo Basket tradition to Sunshine Acres. Sunshine Acres provides a loving, wholesome, Christian home for children who are separated from their parents.

Sunshine Acres is a 501 (c) 3 Arizona Qualifying Charitable Organization. This Halloween I have teamed with GoodPop to help raise money for Sunshine Acres foster care children. For every donation, we have some YUMMY incentives. Visit the page here for more information.

Made By Mary Jewelry

Made By Mary Jewelry

My Girl Disc Necklace from Made By Mary  : By far one of my all time favorite necklaces. The My Girl necklace has been newly added to the Mady By Mary Love Colection. The necklace is perfect for the mom, girlfriend, sister, friend in your life that brings sunshine to your gloomy days. The necklace reminds me of one of my favorite movies growing up, “My girl.” The necklace is dainty and the perefect addition to any outfit.

Hammered Stacking Ring from Made by Mary: Ill be honest, I have been waiting for a Made By Mary ring set for a while now. I mean, lets be honest, who isnt? Their rings are not only beautifyl and dainty but super high quality. Each ring is one of a kind, and adds the perfect amount of “glimmer” to your hand. I personally like wearing all three together, but you can stack or wear seperately, as each way will do just the trick!

Gold Canyon Golf Resort and Spa

Gold Canyon Golf Resort and Spa

The Gold Canyon Golf Resort t is located in the desert Arizona landscape in the mountains of Gold Canyon with amazing views of the Superstition Mountains. I’ll be honest I am an Arizona Native and I visited Gold Canyon for the first time, THIS YEAR. Typically when I think of going on an in town stay cation, I immediately think of Scottsdale. However, if youre looking for a resort that’s secluded and quiet, and basically a gem in the mountains, this is it!

The drive into the resort is even impressive. They have unique small roads up the mountain that lead to  indidivutal casitasT. I love the personalized feel this resort has. There is no one big building, seven stories high. Each room is individualized and gives you a sense of space and seclusion. Almost a romantic feel.

The resort pool is centrally located within the resort and has a fantastic view of the golf course, the mountains and the resort. I could spend all day sitting by the pool.

However, if you get tired of being out in public, some of the rooms come with their own private outdoor spa.

The resort also has golf (and who doesn’t love golf). The resort fee includes unlimited access to range balls as well! Gold Canyon Golf Resort offers two 18-hole Championship golf courses, Dinosaur Mountain and Sidewinder. Dinosaur Mountain is rate one of the top course in Arizona.

The resort is an all in one stop. They have an on site Kokopelli Resturant that is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is centrally located within the resort. They have a view of the  Superstition Mountains that is breath taking.

Highly recommended: Sunday Brunch (8am – 1 pm) with a Chef Attended Omelet Station

Check our the Gold Canyon Golf Resort Dining Menu here

The resort sits right on the mountains, and as you walk outside your room, within a minute you can be to a hiking trailhead. The trails were amazing (some more challenging than others) and each one had some amazing views of the city and the resort. I would highly recommend trying out the hiking trails!! (Bring water!!)

Toy Storage Renovation with The Container Store

I started to notice that Charlie would not spend any time in his room, and would in fact, haul every single one of his toys from his room to the living room, where he would create a very similar path of destruction as a tornado. I then found myself, trying to fix the toy in the living room problem, by buying baskets to store the toys in the living room in. None the less, he continued to not play in his room, and continued to make the family room, his personal mess.

I then had an “ah ha” moment. Why should I not re-do his room? I needed to renovate the toy storage situation and make his room more organized and kid friendly so that he would WANT to be in his room. I also had an alternative motive, I wanted my living room back so I could watch movies without stepping on legos and hot wheels every time I  left the couch.

We teamed up with The Container Store for a complete toy storage, kids room renovation.

Before:

Okay so before you say “that isn’t bad”… be aware that all the toys and blankets and stuffed animals are under the bed (hidden) or behind me in a million different toy baskets!

After:

So first things first, I wanted toy storage that HID the toys. Because lets be honest, if you have baskets, or shelving, you can still see the mess (regardless if you try and re-organize on a daily basis). So the first thing we picked out filing cabinets. Yes…filing cabinets. The Bisley filing cabinets work as a perfect toy storage for hot wheels and legos and all those other little toys you find yourself stepping on in the middle of the night. I love the “tool box” feel they added to the room.

Now onto the rest of the room. Next up… MORE STORAGE.

Before:

Embarrassingly enough I had about 10 different baskets all filled with toys… Not sure how Charlie ever found anything!!

After:I decided to create a reading/toy nook that was basically an all in one stop!

Here are the before:

Below you’ll find the after:

The Light Grey Poppin Box Bench from the Container Store was perfect for both functionality and design. Yes, this seat below that Charlie is sitting on is a storage disguised as extra seating! It’s perfect for a reading nook (which is what we used it as) or even suits perfect for the end of the bed. It also supports up to 275 lbs. And if you decide you want to put it away, it easily folds up and can be stored under a bed.

And to perfectly accompany the box bench, we choose a couple of the Light Grey Poppin Box Seats.  We used these as blanket storage and additional toy storage. These small box seats are strong enough to accommodate up to 275 pounds. And they collapse flat as well!

We also got some of the Bisley filing cabinets in red. Charlie is super into Cars and these remind me so much of tool boxes. They add the perfect touch to a little boys room. These are actually 2 Bisley products (just stacked). The smaller Bisley filing cabinet can be found here. They have tons of different colors too!

**These are two Bisley cabinets stacked. Please make sure to secure cabinets to wall and to one another to avoid any injury!**

Before:

If you ever find yourself overwhelmed when walking into a room, go to The Container Store, they have the best selection to help anyone get organized.
