Toy Storage Renovation with The Container Store

I started to notice that Charlie would not spend any time in his room, and would in fact, haul every single one of his toys from his room to the living room, where he would create a very similar path of destruction as a tornado. I then found myself, trying to fix the toy in the living room problem, by buying baskets to store the toys in the living room in. None the less, he continued to not play in his room, and continued to make the family room, his personal mess.

I then had an “ah ha” moment. Why should I not re-do his room? I needed to renovate the toy storage situation and make his room more organized and kid friendly so that he would WANT to be in his room. I also had an alternative motive, I wanted my living room back so I could watch movies without stepping on legos and hot wheels every time I  left the couch.

We teamed up with The Container Store for a complete toy storage, kids room renovation.

Before:

Okay so before you say “that isn’t bad”… be aware that all the toys and blankets and stuffed animals are under the bed (hidden) or behind me in a million different toy baskets!

After:

So first things first, I wanted toy storage that HID the toys. Because lets be honest, if you have baskets, or shelving, you can still see the mess (regardless if you try and re-organize on a daily basis). So the first thing we picked out filing cabinets. Yes…filing cabinets. The Bisley filing cabinets work as a perfect toy storage for hot wheels and legos and all those other little toys you find yourself stepping on in the middle of the night. I love the “tool box” feel they added to the room.

Now onto the rest of the room. Next up… MORE STORAGE.

Before:

Embarrassingly enough I had about 10 different baskets all filled with toys… Not sure how Charlie ever found anything!!

After:I decided to create a reading/toy nook that was basically an all in one stop!

Here are the before:

Below you’ll find the after:

The Light Grey Poppin Box Bench from the Container Store was perfect for both functionality and design. Yes, this seat below that Charlie is sitting on is a storage disguised as extra seating! It’s perfect for a reading nook (which is what we used it as) or even suits perfect for the end of the bed. It also supports up to 275 lbs. And if you decide you want to put it away, it easily folds up and can be stored under a bed.

And to perfectly accompany the box bench, we choose a couple of the Light Grey Poppin Box Seats.  We used these as blanket storage and additional toy storage. These small box seats are strong enough to accommodate up to 275 pounds. And they collapse flat as well!

We also got some of the Bisley filing cabinets in red. Charlie is super into Cars and these remind me so much of tool boxes. They add the perfect touch to a little boys room. These are actually 2 Bisley products (just stacked). The smaller Bisley filing cabinet can be found here. They have tons of different colors too!

**These are two Bisley cabinets stacked. Please make sure to secure cabinets to wall and to one another to avoid any injury!**

Before:

If you ever find yourself overwhelmed when walking into a room, go to The Container Store, they have the best selection to help anyone get organized.

Our family had the pleasure of reviewing the

Aaron Lane Sliding Glass Door Bookcase

The Aaron Lane Sliding Glass Door Bookcase features an exceptional modern design that is practical, functional and beautiful. The classic White finish stands perfectly when placed against the light grey walls in my home. The bookcase includes 4 shelves, behind two sliding doors. The bottom shelving includes solid doors (to hide all that junk you don’t want anyone to see). This bookcase is perfect to store books or personal items or display pictures or decor.

The assembly on the bookcase was super easy and quick and my favorite part? The bookcase is super light and easy to move around. And you know what that means? Its super easy to push around the bookcase and move from room to room, whenever you need to change things up (which in my house is frequent!)

Charlie’s favorite thing about the bookcase? He can hide his toys in the bottom shelf from mommy!

I received this Aaron Lane Sliding Glass Door Bookcase as a free sample in exchange for an honest review.

Omni Montelucia Resort and Spa

My family and I recently visited Omni Montelucia Resort and Spa over the weekend. The resort is located in the heart of Paradise Valley and is the picture-perfect getaway. The resort is styled to resemble Spain, and walking onto the property made me feel although I had left Arizona completely. Walking through the resort is literally breathtaking, quite possibly the most beautiful resort in Arizona. With its essence combining Spain and luxury, the resort also holds one of the most amazing views of the Camelback Mountains.

Omni Montelucia Resort and Spa features three pools, 23 cabanas, poolside dining service, and a view of the Camelback Mountains that will leave you staring. The Kasbah pool was my favorite, as its kid friendly. It features poolside cabanas with full service as well. We invited some of our friends to join us in the cabana. The cabana was misted, provided seating for up to six people, had full towel service, our own personal cabana attendant, and included poolside chips & Salsa and a fruit platter. I wish I had known about the cabanas at Omni as they would make for the perfect bridal/bachelorette get together. The poolside dining was also amazing. I would recommend the Buffalo Painkiller (a frozen goddess filled with RumHaven coconut rum, coconut milk, banana puree and nutmeg).

The resort also features several on site restaurants that make it so you never have to (or want to) leave the resort. My personal recommendation would be Taqueria Centro and their Baja Shrimp Tacos. Click here for menu. Oh and if you have kiddos, the kids meals are HUGE! I also loved the Crave Cafe. At the Crave Cafe they make full sized pizzas that you can take down to the pool, and they are only $10! Make sure to check them out!

While at the resort, I had the chance to visit the Joya Spa (the #1 spa in Arizona!). The spa features spa suites as well. The Grand Palace Suite is over 850 sq. feet of space including a king sized bed, treatment tables, a fireplace, flat screen television, private restroom and an infinity bath. The suite doors open to Joya Terrace that includes a rooftop pool with stunning views of Camelback Mountain. If you need a romantic getaway this is the most amazing set up I have ever seen! You can check out the luxury spa suites here.

Another fun things about the resort are their “X trees.” Back in the day, explorers used an X to mark where treasure was, indicating a place where true fantasies are realized. When you arrive at the Omni, make sure you look for the X,  because they really do,  mark the spot.

Overal, this resort was one of the most beautiful resorts I have ever been to. There was nothing I would not recommend here. If you need a romantic getaway away, a girls weekend, or even a family trip, I would hands down recommend Omni Montelucia Resort and Spa.

Bed Time with The Company Store

In celebration of Mother’s Day this year, we teamed up with The Company Store to share with you “Our Bed Time Story.” For over 100 years, The Company Store has been tucking in families for bedtime with their top rated bedding, and we are one of the lucky families that just so happens to be tucked in every night with them as well. Bedtime may be one of mommies most looked forward to moments of the day… and then immediately after little one is fast asleep it is also mommies time to stare at baby, and think about how fast time goes by. Suddenly mommy is in tears, thinking of baby growing up, graduating high school, and then all mommy can do is wish she had kept him up for just five more minutes. Who’s with me? (Or maybe I have issues?)

Our bedtime routine isn’t one of those quiet ones… the ones where everyone is whispering and glitter is falling in slow motion from the ceiling… our bedtime routine is rather LOUD. In fact, its really loud…Charlie usually starts with wrestling his dad… Dad’s attempt to get his energy out (which is typically a failed attempt). Immediately followed by a bath. After bath time,  “the lotion monster” makes an appearance and brings good tidings of foot massages. Sometimes mommy is lucky and Charlie gives me a two second toe rub. (My favorite lotion is California Baby)

After bath time, we have a dance party. Included in the dance line up, is every single stuffed animal charlie can find in his room, including his toddler bunny costume. We turn up the iPad and listen to Charlie’s favorite song (right now his favorite is “Im the One” and he calls it “The Baby Song” because the cover of the album has a picture of a baby in a pool (click here to see what Im talking about! haha!! I hope he read this when he is older). Dance party is typically followed by Charlie’s favorite book. Which often turns into five of his favorite books because he never wants to give up the night. And lastly, bedtime prayers. We are sure to thank God for all the blessing and good things He has given us.

Loews Ventana Canyon

My family and I spent the weekend at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, a true desert oasis. Surrounded by Saguaros, this resort is one of the top Arizona luxury resorts, It has stunning views of the Catalina Mountain range, and lots of amenities all within the resort itself. .

The resort is absolutely amazing, the customer service is top-of-the-line, and the on site restaurants have impeccable taste.

The resort has one main big pool in the very center of the resort, with poolside service, courtesy sunscreen and towels, for all you mommies that are absent minded like myself, and views of the Catalina Mountains. They also have an adult only pool, in case you want to get away without the kiddos. I would recommend a piña colada poolside!

They have an on-site, lake side spa and I was lucky enough to get a massage! If you go, ask for Peg! She is amazing! It’s the best massage I’ve ever had! Attached to the spa is a full women’s locker room, accompanied with steam room, sauna is, showers, and all the toiletries that you just happened to forget to pack! (They know me so well!)

They also have tennis courts, banquet halls, golf, and an exercise room! The exercise room even has Netflix streaming! Now that’s my kind of working out!

The customer service is top-of-the-line, the staff comes by every night to turn over your room, and provide you with water bottles. They were constantly asking if we needed anything additional, and making sure our stay was pleasant. They even provided Charlie with a cookie making set upon arrival… To which mommy enjoyed some of the dessert as well! (Shh)

The resort has a grass area located in the center by the main pool, with fire pits, corn hole and tables.

Located on the resort is a hiking trail that leads to this waterfall. The hike is not treacherous and kid friendly, which makes it fun for the whole family!

BIll’s Grill is one of the restaurants located poolside. This is the steak nachos that happen to be super amazing and pair perfect with a drink 😉

Warning: If your hungry, do not proceed any further. Whether you have a taste for grilled salmon and sushi, ribs and BBQ sauce, pork loin and burgers, seasonal grilled vegetables, Loews Ventana Canyon has a dining experience you won’t want to miss. No wonder the brunch is rated #1 in Tucson. The Blues, Brews & BBQ Sunday Brunch is by far the best brunch I’ve ever been to. The food is out of this world.  They have a live blues singer on the patio and a full menu of items such as a sushi table, a dessert table, a pancake machine (what!!!), an omlet bar and so much more. And when I say table, I’m not talking about a little dinky counter… I’m talking about long extended tables with so many choices, so much good food, that you won’t need to eat for days after you eat this brunch. Not only that, but they also have unlimited beers on tap from local breweries. The ambience is amazing, you can sit inside or outside.

And if all this wasn’t convincing enough, “Loews Loves Kids” and the proof is evident. The have an onsite “Kids Closet” offering items available for guests to use during their stay. These include toys, books, strollers, night-lights, potty seats, baby bathtub, baby blankets, outlet protectors, and more. The restaurants offer children’s menus with healthy options plus fun books with crayons, all very reasonably priced.
