Macmillan publishers is a global trade book publishing company with a broad range of award winning books for both children and adults. We recently were able to review a few of their publications and I am very impressed. Not only are the beautifully illustrated and written but I actually learned something! Here are a few of the books I had the pleasure of reviewing:
Grand Canyon by Jason Chin: I am an Arizona native and have visited the Grand Canyon only once ( I know I know… who am I?) The Grand Canyon by Jason Chin is an elaborate story of the life of the Grand Canyon and is one of the best guides on the market. This book offers a beautifully laid out exploration of a father and daughter on a hike through the Grand Canyon.
Science Comics: Bats by Falynn Koch: There is no better way to learn a topic than to read a graphic comic book style novel about it. The book is goofy and dry and made me laugh on multiple occasions. Charlie loved the pictures of the bats.
Pedal Power by Allan Drummond: A book about sustainability and biking around the world. Fun, kid friendly, and absolutely beautifully illustrated.
Counting Sheep: Calpurnia Tate, Girl Vet by Jacqueline Kelly: This book takes place in the early 1900’s in Texas. It is full of historical and scientific information and humorously describes a relationship between Callie and Travis. Its heartwarming. I loved the pictures throughout the novel!
