Pumpkin Medley with Oxo

Pumpkin Applesauce Medley:

Step 1: Buy a Pumpkin

Warning, this recipe makes some delicious baby food. Amateur mommies be advised….you may eat more of it than your toddler. Similar in flavor to a squash, pumpkin pairs nicely with less-sweet veggies such as zucchini and green beans, and also works well with fruits and meats. When looking for your pumpkin, look for an unblemished one, between 2-5 lbs. If purchasing a package of already peeled pumpkin, be sure the pumpkin is deep orange in color. For measuring sake, remember, a two-pound pumpkin yields about 28 ounces of puree.

Step 2:

Place that pumpkin of yours in the sink and rinse with cold water. Scrub the pumpkin with a brush to get the grime and dirt off. If you purchased the already peeled pumpkin, rinse in cold water in a colander.

Step 3:

Cut the pumpkin into small cubes (this takes … a long time and is rather tedious but so worth it). Add pumpkin squares to baking dish, add a half inch of water before backing to keep the pumpkin moist.. Bake at 450F for about 45 minutes. The pumpkin should be tender. Remove from oven.

If you went the easy way out… (you are smart!) Take the peeled and cut pumpkin, bring water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Cook diced pumpkin until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and rinse under cool water for about three minutes to stop the cooking process.

 Step 4:

Puree cooked pumpkin in your OXO food masher (https://www.oxo.com/products/baby-toddler/feeding/food-masher) until smooth
 Step 5:

Use the OXO tot Glass Baby Blocks https://www.oxo.com/glass-baby-blocks) and portion out your pumpkin medley. Each portion should contain

 1/2 cup applesauce.

1/2 cup pumpkin puree.

1/2 cup (cooked) oatmeal.

Dash of cinnamon and nutmeg

Step 6:

Feed to baby. Feed to mommy. Feed to everyone. We would recommend the OXO tot feeding spoon set with soft silicone (https://www.oxo.com/oxo-tot-feeding-spoon-set-with-soft-silicone).

Step 7:

Leftovers? Whats that? We didn’t have any… But if you do, the OXO Tot Glass Baby Blocks are made of durable borosilicate glass which means they can go directly from the freezer to the oven. So freeze those pumpkin medleys and enjoy another day!
